The Maker and the Service

The spirit of Galah.design is inspired by the passionate multi-disciplinary artist Bryan Samuel Jeffs.

His expertise in carpentry-joinery, metal work and landscaping offer an uncomplicated palette to create elegant structures and spaces.

Bryan’s main aim is to evoke native postures and novel movement with innocuous furnishings and design layout.

“I remember at a greek cousins wedding down in Sydney years ago. My uncle reclined shoeless on the floor in a foyer of a grand harbourside venue. It was so natural. His father brought the entire family over in the 30’s from a small town in Cyprus settling in Newcastle where my family became like barnacles on the coast. The concierge confronted my uncle, inviting him to relieve the floor of his strewn body. It was a bit intense and hilarious. But it’s always stuck in my mind and echos in my body when ever I’m in public with friends and family, relaxed, and honoured to be just as I am. This is how I want to see my Aussie kin, stretching out, showing off like we’re at the baths! Not this stuck up queue of righty tighties too scared to even dance at a gig”
