“I remember at a greek cousins wedding down in Sydney years ago. My uncle reclined shoeless on the floor in a foyer of a grand harbourside venue. It was so natural. His father brought the entire family over in the 30’s from a small town in Cyprus settling in Newcastle where my family became like barnacles on the coast. The concierge confronted my uncle, inviting him to relieve the floor of his strewn body. It was a bit intense and hilarious. But it’s always stuck in my mind and echos in my body when ever I’m in public with friends and family, relaxed, and honoured to be just as I am.
